Microsoft Asia's senior director, communications, Andrew Pickup pictured will be leaving the company after 26 years of service. Speaking to Marketing , Pickup said that in June , he will be leaving Singapore for personal reasons and is looking forward to new adventures in the UK. He said, "I can honestly say I've enjoyed every day of my long career at Microsoft not necessarily every minute or hour because there are always challenges in any job. Speaking at the Social Matters conference in Hong Kong today, Andrew Pickup, the senior director of communications for Microsoft Asia Pacific, recounted the time his firm announced the introduction of a new version of games console Xbox at a trade show.

It was poorly received by customers, and based on social intelligence the product was revised. When Xbox One was revealed, some customers were unhappy that the product could only be used online, and secondhand games could not be shared. Microsoft changed the product six months before launching it in response to the backlash. The biggest spike in negative opinion of the brand coincided with the initial Xbox One product reveal.
